Loisach & Zugspitze
The Loisach springs forth west of the village – from the highly popular Loisach springs, which serve as a stunning photo backdrop – and flows through the entire municipality. Our little town can even be seen from the Zugspitze.
Biberwier is part of the Tyrolean Zugspitz Arena tourism region – so you can enjoy numerous activities and offerings throughout the entire valley.
The name Biberwier is no coincidence: Until 1800, these industrious rodents thrived along the mountain streams, but were absent for 200 years thereafter. Now, beaver populations have returned – their traces can be seen in many places!
Biberwier lies along the Fernradweg Via Claudia Augusta, an ancient Roman road. Artifacts from the Roman era illustrate the early significance of the village, and from the Middle Ages until 1921, Biberwier was entirely defined by mining.
